UPS Public Affairs

As the first Martha Flores Scholar, Emelie was able to work for the UPS Public Affairs team for the Latin American Division in Washington D.C. during summer 2021. During her paid internship she created a series of weekly reports tracking the political climate in Latin America to be used as a point of reference to expand e-commerce and small and medium sized businesses for the global team. In addition, she conducted several country comparison analysis of different small and medium sized businesses to track their individual needs and performances in accessing global markets.

American Foreign Policy

Council

As a research assistant during the Spring 2022, Emelie conducted monthly reports tracking the political climate in Africa to be released on the Africa Political Monitor. In addition, she co-led a research project on Iran's strategy brief to report on how the new Taliban regime will present new regional security and emerging threats. 
IGNITE National 

In Fall 2020, Emelie kick started I.C.A.N. FIU chapter under the IGNITE National organization. As the first president of the I.C.A.N. chapter she led a series of discussions on how to get college women to achieve their political ambitions. During her time as president, she constructed speech, compassion and leadership workshops, while advocating for women’s rights in our political arena through social media, community outreach and workshops. After her time as president, she entered the role as the Miami Regional Fellow, that tasked her with the job of overseeing existing IGNITE college chapters in Miami-Dade County by providing peer support and mentoring, outreach training and event planning logistics.

The BC Community Project works towards providing the chronically homeless community in Miami- Dade County with resources such as immediate housing, hygienic resource assistance and food assistance. During the project Emelie and her team have conducted a series of bi-weekly cleanups for four consecutive semesters, hosted two major hygiene kit distributions to over 700+ community members, implemented tax assistance services, food assistance and established a permanent hygiene pantry in Overtown, FL.

Capstone

As an Administrative and Programs intern, Emelie connected with congressional officials and state senators to promote CHLI events and galas. In addition, she conducted research for CHLI’s We Belong Campaign by contacting past hispanic alumni to gage their experience with CHLI and document all findings. Furthermore, during her time with CHLI she assisted the Communications and Programs department with organizing the CHLI Global Leaders virtual events and connecting with past alumni for substantive Q&A sessions on career and networking opportunities.
